Ancel Keys did NOT "invent" the Mediterranean diet. Mediterraneans did, based on their local ingredients and lifestyles. He analyzed or described (in the scientific sense, not a literary description) or imported or popularized or promoted it ... The entry as it stands (which I discovered thanks to an enthusiastic email from the Alumni office promoting the Wall) is laughable and should be edited.
Thank you, from a 1994 PhD grad who works with Mediterranean diet researchers in Barcelona (a Mediterranean city) who have studied the dietary benefits of EVOO and walnuts but would never say they invented olives and walnuts!!!
