Suppress post from newsfeed?

Hello,
I am wondering if a checkbox can be added to the AAP Post content type that would result in it being being not published in the CURA newsfeed? https://www.cura.umn.edu/news-events/news
Add a checkbox to that content type and then adjust the newsfeed to filter out posts with that box checked?
I can see this being very helpful in at least two situations–when I am working on a draft that I would like to share with a team of people who don't have login access to the site, I can hit that button and then it won't show up in the that newsfeed.
Also, that content type is also the one we use for project entries and when I do a batch of 5 projects, for example, I might not want all of them to clutter up that news feed. But still show up on the related section of program landing pages.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
I'm going through all of our "In Progress" tickets to verify if the task is still in progress or if I can adjust the status to complete.
Jonathan Miller
Charlot Meyer: This one is complete. Thanks for checking!

Hello again! I added a checkbox to the APP Post content type labeled "Hide from Newsfeed" and added this field to the view pulling in news. I double checked that it works with a published post. I also created a small section called "Publishing Options" at the bottom of the Post content type and pulled the new checkbox as well as the Published and Feature on Home Page checkbox in an effort to organize a bit. Let me know if you hate this and I can change it back.

Claire Volna: The publishing options box is great! Makes it much more user-friendly to have all those options together.
It seems like the button is working to remove items from the newsfeed. But it seems like something is off on what is showing up because it's only the most recent items that are showing up.

Jonathan Miller: Hm, I think this is because the view may now be looking for content that has been updated with this field. For example, previously published nodes didn't have this field at all, so the view is only pulling in content that has this field updated. I went in to an old APP Post (https://www.cura.umn.edu/news/2022-2023-faculty-interactive-research-program-call-proposals) and didn't make any changes, but just saved the node, and now it's showing up in the News feed again. I can only assume there is some funky caching going on that's causing this to happen, but it looks like simply resaving the page does the trick. Would you like me to help go through all the APP Post nodes and resave them?

Hey Jonathan! I'll look into this for you and let you know when I've got it (or something similar) up and running!
